LOGIN DIRECTORS MEETING

Heggan Free Public Library), and Marie McDonald (West Deptford Free Public Library).
President Marie McDonald called the meeting to order at 10:03 am at the Gloucester County College Library.
Secretary’s Report
The minutes that Denise recorded in Carol’s absence were presented. Jane motioned for their approval. Anne seconded it and they were approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Jane reported that all members had paid and were recorded in the account. She will provide a statement at a later date. There were some outstanding bills but Jane was verifying the amounts before paying them. Jane also reported that SIRSI now has federated searches and enhancements available. She will talk to our account representative about a demonstration in May or June.
OLD BUSINESS
Symphony Upgrade
Bob reported that Symphony 3.2 is now available. SIRSI/DYNIX is not charging for this upgrade. GCLS Automation Department will be installing it the end of March or the beginning of April. Bob asked for input on dates and April 9th was the most convenient date. He will relay that information to Karen Shiles who will schedule the upgrade.
NEW BUSINESS
Letter of Intent (Margaret Heggan)
Marie reported that Margaret Heggan Library (Washington Township) has signed a letter of intent to join LOGIN.
McCowan Library and LOGIN
McCowan Memorial Library (Pitman) has contacted Marie and is hoping to join.
Gill Memorial Library
Marie reported that Gill Memorial Library is interested in joining. Their equipment needs to be updated and this would be a good option. Marie confirmed that the LOGIN members had voted to spread the joining fees over a five year period to make it easier for new members to afford.
Monroe Township
Marie reported that she was contacted yesterday by Monroe Township Library. She and Karen Shiles provided them with information about joining.
Marie reported that Anne Zuber had requested a reciprocal borrowing report. Bob will send a completed report very shortly. Anne told Marie that circulation at Wenonah had increased as a result of LOGIN.
GCLS Books by Mail
Bob reported that GCLS has been awarded a grant to provide books by mail. Users will have the option of library materials mailed to their homes instead of picked up at a library. The program, sponsored by SJRLC, will be called MailLit and will only use GCLS material. Bob offered to let users from other libraries participate if the directors approve. Directors can consider it and let Bob know if they wish to participate. The program will start in June. The grant will include a delivery person picking up material daily at each of the GCLS branches. It will exclude Express items. Material will be sent media rate and GCLS will pay for an additional daily pick up by the post office. A return envelope will be provided but return postage will be paid by the user or material can be returned to a LOGIN library. It is a $50,000 grant through June of 2009 with a possible renewal of $25,000 the second year. Other libraries could join later. Delivery is the only problem because we can’t depend on timely delivery by Velocity.
Jane distributed information about Symphony.
GCLS My Library Bookshelf
Bob reported that the Friends of GCLS will have a branded website linked to Baker & Taylor to purchase materials. The customer will use a credit card to purchase materials and the Friends will get a profit. It will be linked from the GCLS webpage, not the catalog. Kathy White from Baker & Taylor provided the information for this project. There is not any cost to set it up and Bob expects it to be operational in a couple of weeks.
SRG Meeting in November
A problem was reported by Woodbury at the SRG meeting. GCLS staff had set an item from Woodbury to Lost on a Sunday afternoon so a patron could pay the bill. Woodbury would like to be notified in case they need to reorder the material. Marie reminded all to notify the home library if altering library records. Also, everyone should make sure their equipment meets the minimum requirements for the Symphony upgrade.
Cataloging Meeting
Bob will send out any minutes and have them posted on the blog.
