Secretary’s Report
Carol presented the Secretary’s Report. Bob motioned for its approval. Anne seconded it and it was approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Jane reported that there were no new transactions as of June 30, 2008. She suggested looking at fees with the new members as part of the consortium. She clarified the subscription line item #7420 for $32,250 which was for the initial deduping and authority control. Next year, it will be around $2,000. Line item #7411 for $52,020 was for annual software maintenance. There is a pending bill of $11,467 bill for Syndetic Solutions for added content. President Marie asked the budget committee, Bob, Jane, and Jean, to reconvene to prepare the budget. They were asked to meet and report to the group at the October meeting. OLD BUSINESS
Update on New LOGIN Libraries
Karen Shiles reported that Heggan Library sent their data to SIRSI yesterday but she was unsure whether SIRSI could read the records. August 29th is still the ‘go live’ date. Beth Lillie asked if there was anything that Monroe could do to prepare for the migration.
LOGIN Directory
Jane asked the new libraries’ directors to provide information. Also, she would like them to send quotes she could use for the NJLA newsletter. Jane will try to get the logo distributed as well.
Review of LOGIN Bylaws
Beth asked about the name, “Gold aka LOGIN.” The name hasn’t been changed because of the need to change the name on documents with the State. The bylaws committee will check into the cost of changing the name with the State and on the SIRSI contract. Beth, Linda, and Marie will review the bylaws and present recommendations at the October meeting.
Review of Service Level Agreement
Bob noted that the Service Level Agreement is the agreement that the consortium has with the Gloucester County Library to administer the database and server. Bob asked if the group was satisfied with the agreement. He noted that the contacts list wasn’t completed and should be. Bob will send a copy to new member libraries as well as the current members. It will be reviewed next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
SRG Meeting
Beth asked if the libraries can use their own library card and she was assured that they do. A LOGIN sticker to be placed on the library card was discussed. Jean will get costs for LOGIN stickers.
Cataloging Meeting
Minutes from the cataloging meeting on July 10, 2008 were distributed. Beth asked about additional subject headings. Previously, only Library of Congress subject headings were used. Karen will ask SIRSI if they can include Sears subject headings. Karen and Beth will work it out.
SIRSI-Enterprise
Kate Howell is no longer our representative for SIRSI. John Lewis is the new contact. He will be asked to come to the October meeting to demonstrate SIRSI-Enterprise. Karen said that it will cost $13,000 with installation and is not as complete as AquaBrowser.
Library Thing
Karen demonstrated Library Thing which allows tagging for books. It only costs $1600. It doesn’t do audiovisuals or have customer reviews. The tags are placed at the bottom. Like Amazon, the customer needs to have an account in order to use it. Marie asked Karen if she could arrange a demonstration by the vendor.
Nominating Committee Report & Election of Officers
Denise Saia reported that all current officers agreed to accept another term. Bob nominated Marie McDonald for President, Denise Saia for Vice President, Carol Wolf for Secretary, and Jane Crocker for Treasurer. Ann seconded it and all approved. The current officers were elected for another two year term.
Announcements
Jane reported that Gloucester County College has a new president, Russell Davis.
Gwen reported that Westville started its new addition. The footings have been poured and it is scheduled to be complete at the end of September.
Ann reported that GCIT had a fire but no one was hurt.
Bob reported that MailLit had a good start with 414 items mailed during the first four weeks. It included 321 packages to 22 zip codes. Bob noted that requests for nonfiction DVD’s could go to non-GCLS libraries because the item types are the same. It will generate an unfamiliar error code.
Marie thanked Karen, Ralph, and Bob for all they do.
Next LOGIN Meeting
The next meeting will be scheduled in October at the Deptford Public Library with the date to be announced later.*
Coffee will be at 9:30 with the meeting starting at 10:00.
The meeting was adjourned by President Marie at 11:50.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Wolf
Secretary
