Someplace To Be Flying

"There's no such thing as fiction.  If you can imagine something, then it's happened."

Hank, driver of an unregistered cab in the wilder areas of the city of Newport, tries to keep his nose out of other people's business.  But when he stops to save a young photographer named Lily, they both become involved in one of the world's oldest feuds - that between the animal people, corbae and canid, who originally inhabited the earth.  This time, however, a dangerous variable has been thrown in the mix: the cuckoos, a dangerous family bent on causing destruction.  Now that Hank and Lily have caught a glimpse of this hidden world, they can't ignore the sotrm that is brewing.  They  join an unlikely assortment of both humans and animal people against forces that threaten to destroy the world as they know it.  Mr. de Lint's novel is a vivid piece of urban fantasy that contains lifelike characters and a page-turning plot.  The characters' foray into the ancient world hidden beneath their own is a transformative experience for them, and (hopefully) a worthwhile story for the reader!
